RateSonic Celebrates First Year as a Consumer Insurance Resource

Since early 2022, RateSonic has grown from an idea for a website to a knowledge base with tons of articles helping consumers learn about insurance. The site exists to help consumers navigate the complex insurance industry and make informed shopping decisions.

The company is celebrating its one-year anniversary this April and has a positive outlook for 2023 and beyond. The RateSonic team is excited about introducing even more helpful content, such as state car insurance guides and more in-depth shopping advice. The editorial team also plans to roll out a blog, featuring relevant news and informative studies regarding auto, home, and renters insurance.

RateSonic was founded in Long Beach, Washington, by 23-year-old brothers Brandon and Sean Canonica and their uncle, Larry Canonica. They decided to start the company once Larry saw the need to build a high-quality informational website in the insurance space after working in the industry for several years. Then, the two brothers joined to help build the site and round out the team.

During the company's development, Larry, Brandon, and Sean vowed to follow a strict set of core values:

  • User-friendliness. The website and its tools should be user-friendly and easy to use. Each article must be to the point and only as long as it needs to be.
  • High quality. Content must be high quality, rather than simply copied, rehashed, or hastily put together. This means it must be original, well-written, and useful.
  • Integrity. Ethics are a must at all times. This means putting the users ahead of greed and following honest business practices.
  • Objectivity. No outside person or company influences the website's content. Any information is either factual or explicitly stated as the team's own opinion.

Once the above values were in place, Brandon and Sean began writing all of RateSonic's content. Meanwhile, Larry, as the company's CTO, handled the more technical side of maintaining the website.

"Since last year, it's been a tough ride to build this website out with just the three of us, but we've been up to the task, and the site has grown into a very helpful resource. Because of this, we're optimistic for the future and hope to serve as many people as possible," says Sean Canonica, co-founder and CEO of RateSonic.

The site also plans to be active in its home community, Long Beach, WA, as it grows. Per Brandon Canonica, RateSonic's co-founder and COO, "We're based in a small community, so it'll be great to focus on getting more involved, especially with local Chambers of Commerce and the county's Economic Development Council."
