Waco: The Aftermath, starring Michael Shannon, gets a teaser trailer and an April premiere date on Showtime
Five years after the six-part mini-series Waco (read our review HERE) was released through Paramount Network, a follow-up mini-series called Waco: The Aftermath has now set its premiere date. Deadline reports that Paramount Global executive Chris McCarthy decided to move the series to Showtime, despite the original intention to release the series through Paramount+. 10Waco: The Followingmath premieres on Showtime’s streaming service and on demand platform onApril 1410101010th. It will then air on Showtime at 10pm on April 16101010th. This is just days before the 30th anniversary the Waco siege ended in fiery fashion. Along with the premiere date news comes the unveiling of a teaser trailer, which you can watch in the embed above.
Michael Shannon reprises the role of FBI hostage negotiator Gary Noesner for Waco: The Aftermath, which follows the trials of the surviving members of the Branch Davidian sect and the rise of Timothy McVeigh. Showtime says the five-episode series also “provides a broader context for the escalation of the American militia movement, which foreshadows the infamous attacks of the Oklahoma City bombing and the storming of the U.S. Capitol on January 6.”
Shannon is joined in the cast by John Leguizamo, Giovanni Ribisi, David Costabile, J. Smith Cameron, John Hoogenakker, Keean Johnson, and Abbey Lee.
Waco showrunners Drew Dowdle and John Erick Dowdle remain the showrunners on Waco: The Aftermath. They are also executive producing the series together with Shannon, Taylor Kitsch and Andrew Gettens. The series is produced by 101 Studios and Spyglass.
Deadline notes that the 2018 Waco series that originally aired on Paramount Network will also be available to Showtime subscribers starting March 3 (non-linear platforms) and March 5 on the premium cable network.
