HBO has released the new official trailer for Succession season 4, which will be the final season of the award-winning drama series.
Succession explores themes of power and family dynamics through the eyes of patriarch Logan Roy (Brian Cox) and his four grown children, Kendall (Jeremy Strong), Siobhan (Sarah Snook), Roman (Kieran Culkin), and Connor (Alan Ruck). The sale of media conglomerate Waystar Royco, to tech visionary Lukas Mattsson, is fast approaching in the fourth and final season. As they imagine their future, the prospect of this major sale causes existential angst as well as familial division within the Roys. A power struggle ensues as the family weighs up a future where their cultural and political weight is severely curtailed.
Series creator Jesse Armstrong revealed last week that Succession would be coming to a close. “We could have [announced it] as soon as I sort of decided, almost when we were writing it, which I think would be weird and perverse,” Armstrong said. “We could’ve said it at the end. Creatively, I like the idea because the audience can just enjoy the season as it is, without trying to understand or perceiving it in a certain way. I feel a responsibility towards the viewers. Personally, I wouldn’t like the feeling that, “Oh, that’s all, guys.” That was the end. I don’t like that feeling in a show. I think I would like to know it is coming to an end.“
Even though this particular story may be ending, Armstrong teased that the world of Succession could return in another form if the interest is there. Armstrong stated that he believes that the succession story we were telling was complete.. “This season is the toughest to exhaust all our resources of interest…” Armstrong said. Perhaps there is something else we could do that leveraged the best aspects of our work. So that is another true feeling.[but]”What did you think of the latest
