The Last of Us’ showrunner is open to spin-offs, but only under certain conditions

The Last of Us spin-offs could happen, but the studio must take great care when expanding the world and its characters.

HBO’s The Last of Us could be the beginning of something much more significant for the network. The second season has already begun development, but is there more on the way? Craig Mazin, The Last of Us‘s co-creator, said that spin-offs are possible. However, extensive talks should take place about how an expansion to the world would enrich the world and its characters.

“We haven’t talked about that specifically because we’re so focused on just telling this main narrative,” Mazin told The Wrap about creating spin-offs. “I’m not opposed to other shows that could draw from these characters or this world.” I mean, the shows are so huge, I’m burning through one of my precious few remaining decades to tell this story. In principle, I don’t have any problem with it. Mazin said that if there was a way to make it work, I could see no reason not to do so.

“My great hope is that if there is anything like that, that it’s done with as much care and respect and love as what we are applying to this series right now.”’s challenging to think about expanding The Last of Us

world without drawing comparisons to AMC’s The Walking Dead. Few could have predicted the growth and popularity of that show over the years. The Last of Us Part II

Abby, the game's main antagonist, and Lev, a brother of Yara and a former Seraphite, are all characters that could be the basis for a spin-off. It is clear that their stories go beyond

The last of Us Part II. If Sony wants the focus to be on existing characters, then they can start there. Or, like AMC’s The Walking Dead, they could introduce brand-new characters to the franchise and tell their harrowing stories.Would you be open to more series from
