Thanksgiving: Milo Manheim, Disney’s Zombies, casts in Eli Roth slasher

Milo Manheim of Disney’s Z-O-M-B-I-E-S franchise has joined the cast of director Eli Roth’s long-awaited slasher Thanksgiving

Today’s monster kids may know Milo Manheim from his role as Zed in the Disney movies Z-O-M-B-I-E-S, Z-O-M-B-I-E-S 2, and Z-O-M-B-I-E-S 3… but now Manheim have joined the cast of a genre movie that the monster kids probably won’t be allowed to watch for a while. The Hollywood Reporter broke the news that Manheim is the latest addition to the cast of director Eli Roth’s long-awaited slasher Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving is based on the faux trailer Roth created for the Robert Rodriguez / Quentin Tarantino double feature Grindhouse, which was released way back in 2007. Roth has been wanting to make a feature version of Thanksgiving for sixteen years and even wrote the screenplay with Jeff Rendell (who played the homicidal pilgrim in the trailer) a dozen years ago. Spyglass Media has provided funding to make it possible. Roth jumped at the chance to get the movie made, even though it meant having Deadpool‘s Tim Miller take over as director on the reshoots for his video game adaptation Borderlands.

Roth is producing the film with Roger Birnbaum.

Manheim’s Thanksgiving co-stars include Addison Rae (He’s All That), Jalen Thomas Brooks (Walker), Nell Verlaque (Big Shot), and Patrick Dempsey (Grey’s Anatomy). Details on most of the characters are being kept under wraps – all we really know at this point is that Dempsey is playing the sheriff.

If you’ve watched the Thanksgiving trailer, you have a good idea of what this slasher movie is going to be about. The Hollywood Reporter says plot details are on the thin side although it concerns a slasher who comes to small Massachusetts town with the intention of “creating a Thanksgiving carving board out of the town’s inhabitants,” per sources. Which lines up with what we’ve seen in the faux trailer.

In addition to the Z-O-M-B-I-E-S franchise, Manheim has also been seen in episodes of Ghost Whisperer, American Housewife, The Conners, and Doogie Kamealoha, M.D.

I can’t say I’m familiar with Manheim’s work, but I didn’t really expect to be familiar with most of the cast members in Thanksgiving. Slashers are all about seeing fresh faces get bloodied.

Are you looking forward to Eli Roth’s Thanksgiving? What do you think of Milo Manheim joining the cast. Leave a comment below to let us know your thoughts about Milo Manheim joining the cast.
