Sharper star Briana Middleton will be the star of Metropolis TV series for Apple, currently in development by Mr. Robot creator Sam Esmail.
Mr. Robot creator Sam Esmail has been working on a TV series adaptation of Fritz Lang’s classic sci-fi movie Metropolis for some time, and now he finally has a star. It was reported today that Briana Middleton is set to star in the Metropolis TV series, which Esmail is developing for Apple.
Plot details for the Metropolis TV series continue to be kept under wraps, but Briana Middleton will be playing a character named Finnie Polito. Based on Thea Von Harbou’s novel, the original 1927 film set in a futuristic urban setting and featured the efforts of Freder, the rich son of the citymaster, and Maria, who are both saintly figures to the workers to overcome the great gulf that separates the classes in their city. Joh Fredersen, city master, is brought together with the workers. We’ll be celebrating the 100th anniversary of the movie in just a few short years.
Things might have changed over time, but a description of the series that was revealed at the first announcement stated that it “” takes place in a future society in which wealthy industrialists control the cast city from high rise tower complexes while a lower-class underground-dwelling worker class works continuously to maintain the machines. Risking everything they know, two star-crossed lovers from opposite sides of the divide must find a way to bring down the whole system.“
Briana Middleton was most recently seen in Sharper, a psychological thriller by Benjamin Caron that unfolds “within the secrets of New York City, from the penthouses of Fifth Avenue to the shadowy corners of Queens. Expectations are skewed and motivations are questionable. Alex Maidy, our reviewer of the film, praised Middleton as “fantastic” as the young femme fatale who is the key for everything that happens. This performance will generate a lot buzz, and I expect to see her more in the future. Sharper was released in select theaters last week and will debut on Apple TV+ on February 17th.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BKZq-EbWkbE
