The Back to the Future actor opens up about his friendship with the Doc.
Marty McFly and Dr. Emmett brown are two of the most enduring friendships to grace the silverscreen. In real life, Michael J. Although Fox and Christopher Lloyd have been friends for a long time, Fox claims that it wasn’t until Back To The Future Part III that they really clicked. Fox spoke with Variety during Sundance to promote his documentary STILL – A Michael J. Fox Fox Movie (read our review) and explained:“Chris is a great guy. He is very mysterious. It took me several films to get to know him. We connected on
Back To the Future Part III10 in a way that we didn’t have on the other films. I discovered how much he loves acting. That was something I had never experienced before. It was great to sit down and discuss acting and talk about King Lear… This man can play King Lear! He’s full of surprises. He’s full of surprises.”He adds, “He can tell a movie’s worth of story in two seconds, and you get it. Regular actors must spend hours trying to get the information out. Chris is a master at this. He is an artist. He’s an artist.”
The director of Still
, Davis Guggenheim, says that the new documentary isn’t attempting to be a blunt tear-jerker. Despite Fox’s terrible condition, Davis Guggenheim says that the new documentary isn’t meant to make viewers feel guilty. “I didn’t want a Parkinson’s movie. I don’t want a sick movie. I want to make a film about a person’s life. He said one thing to me: “No violence.” We hope the movie’s tone is not pathetic. This is a movie about a wild life, an incredible ride of ups and downs, and a Hollywood 1980s movie star and what happens when life throws him a curveball.”STILL: A Michael J. Fox Movie is backed by Apple, but there is yet to be an announcement of the release.
