We have learned that Living With Chucky will be released digitally on April 2410 in the UK and Ireland. It will also receive a Blu-ray release through Lightbulb Film Distribution. The trailer can be viewed in the embed above.Living With Chucky
will explore Child’s Play10 franchise from a personal and socio-cultural perspective. The documentary feature utilizes new and archival interview footage to expose the series’ cultural impact over the years, with principal cast, crew members including Don Mancini, Brad Dourif, Jennifer Tilly, Tony Gardner, and David Kirshner, alongside fans of the franchise like Marlon Wayans, John Waters, and Abigail Breslin. The documentary reaches Blu-ray in the UK and Ireland with the following bonus features: Trailer – 1:45, Candid Conversations – 7:50, Favorite Death Scene – 3:32, Reception from Families – 6:13
Gardner previously provided the following statement: “Making this movie has been a long arduous process and such a labor of love for the
Child’s Play franchise. I can’t wait to see what the heart went into making this film. I hope fans come out of it with a deeper understanding and appreciation for the cast and crew that have brought their favorite Good Guy to life for the past thirty years.“Gardner also had this to say about her film:I started the journey of making this film several years ago as a class assignment in film school. As someone with ADHD, we were asked to make short documentary films one semester. This was until I saw “
Stories we Tell
“, a fascinating documentary that reveals the secrets of a family from the viewpoint of the filmmaker. It inspired me to make a personal film. I originally planned to make a short about growing up with a special effects artist father. I thought I had a normal childhood. But as I grew older, I realized that not all children return from preschool to the same monsters, aliens, and fake dead bodies their father brought home from work. Chucky, the killer doll Child’s Play10, was the one I would return to from four years old. He would cause me nightmares for many years. The teacher who was assisting me in the creation of the short film pointed out how often I refer to Chucky as my brother. She encouraged me to concentrate on that portion of my life, since it is something that I have been referring to for the past twenty-years. I was finally able to meet the other families involved in these films, which became a second family for my dad when he was away for several months in Romania or Canada. All of them referred to Chucky like an existing family member. As they recalled their own childhoods, it made me feel less alone. It was an amazing experience that made me feel more connected to the “Chucky family” as my film premiered at Cultof Chucky
in London and Toronto. It was the fans that inspired me to make the film a feature. They were so passionate about the character they considered their icon, but to me, it was just my little brother who gets to ride shotgun every time. (I’m not kidding, you have to buckle up Chucky whenever you travel). Although I was aware of other eighties slashers like Freddy or Jason, there wasn’t a single documentary that was dedicated solely to the Child’s Play10 franchise. It was my chance for fans to see my life, whether they were day-one or not. I didn’t realize the enormity of the task I was about to take on: covering a beloved franchise that has been around for thirty years in under two hours, while still fresh out of film school. There were many obstacles along the way, such as editing, legalities and a pandemic that impacted the entire independent film market. “Living with Chucky
” is a true love letter to the franchise and to all those who tirelessly work to bring Chucky into horror fans’ homes. I hope people are able to feel just how much heart was poured into creating this film and possibly take away a newfound appreciation for their favorite franchise. Are you looking forward to Living with Chucky
