Ant-Man and the Wasp screenwriters Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari have been hired to the script the horror movie Gnomes
Earlier this month, Sony Pictures and 21 Laps – the production company behind the hit Netflix series Stranger Things – came out the winners in a competitive bidding situation over the feature film rights to the horror short film Gnomes, which was directed by Ruwan Suresh Heggelman from a script he crafted with Jasper ten Hoor and Richard Raaphorst. Deadline reports that Heggelman will direct the feature. However, Sony and 21 Laps have hired a well-known Hollywood screenwriting duo to write this script. These writers are Andrew Barrer (and Gabriel Ferrari), who have previously worked on Marvel’s Ant Man and the Wasp10 and the Hulu thriller10 No Exit. Barrer also wrote the 2013 horror film Haunt, on which Ferrari served as an executive producer.
In addition to co-writing the script for the short version of Gnomes, Raaphorst also produced the film. Raaphorst is also on board to produce 21 Laps’ feature version with Dan Cohen, Shawn Levy and Dan Levine. Emily Feher is the project manager for 21 Laps.
The brief version ofGnomes told the story of a girl who accidentally stumbled upon the territory of a killer Gnome tribe while on her daily run. She was then lured in by its mysterious glowing mushroom. It was filmed in the Netherlands and featured Moise Trustfull (female victim) and Duncan Meijering (male victim). The short was filmed in the Netherlands and featured Moise Trustfull as the “Female Victim” and Duncan Meijering as the “Male Victim”. And a movie about a tribe of killer gnomes sounds like a good time to me.
