Dark creators Baran bo Odar and Jantje Friese are developing an adaptation of the comic book Something Is Killing the Children for Netflix
Last month, the Netflix streaming service announced that they were cancelling the epic mystery horror series 1899 – which came from the minds of Jantje Friese and Baran bo Odar, creators of the sci-fi thriller series Dark – after just one season. Friese and bo Odar still have an exclusive multi-year deal with Netflix and aren’t ready to part ways. Deadline reports that Friese is working with bo Odar to adapt the Boom! Studios comic book Something Is Killing the Children for Netflix.
Created by James Tynion and Werther Dell’Edera, Something Is Killing the Children is one of the most successful original English-language comic series of the last five years. The series House of Slaughter was also a big hit. Something is Killing the Children tells this story: When Archer’s Peak’s children start to disappear, everything seems hopeless. The majority of children never return. However, the few that do return have horrible stories about terrifying creatures that lurk in the shadows. The only way they can eliminate the threat is to find and exterminate the mysterious stranger who believes them and claims to be able to see what they see. She kills monsters. She is a monster killer.
Deadline reports that Netflix decided to take the series in a different direction with Something is Killing the Children. This was in contrast to the direction Macy and Flanagan were taking. The Intrepid’s contract with Netflix was terminated and they switched to Amazon.Boom Friese and Odar are co-executive producers of the adaptation. Studios’ Stephen Christy, and Ross Richie.
